With superstardom comes tabloid interest — especially in your love life, which Hunter Hayes is learning the hard way. The singer, who is only recently settling into superfame, has been the subject of some interesting dating rumors over the past few months, which came as a surprise to him.
Hayes recently dished about having to deal with the gossip — and even revealed that he has a celebrity crush. Recently, the 21-year-old was linked to pop singer Selena Gomez, who is perhaps best known for dating Justin Bieber (until a few months ago). Both Hayes and Gomez shot rumors of a budding romance down, but the young country singer says his mind is still blown by the fact that people would even care if he is dating someone — or the fact that the gossip media would go to extensive lengths to manufacture such rumors.
“I kinda felt bad for Selena ’cause we did meet and she was awesome, but we literally just shook hands and said hello,” Hayes said during an interview with CMT Radio Live. That should bring a sigh of relief to Hayniacs everywhere!
“It is strange,” Hayes reveals of his new heartthrob status. “That’s the one part that nobody kinda can tell you about or prepare you for.”
The singer did admit that he has a celeb crush, but wouldn’t unveil who it is. He remained mum, since he doesn’t want to deal with any awkwardness that would ensue should she find out, saying, “My celebrity crush is not gonna find out who my celebrity crush is anytime soon. I’m so nervous! I may keep that to myself because if I do meet her and she already knows about it, that could be awkward.”
In the meantime, as Hayes tells ToC Nights host Jeremy Robinson, he’s still on the hunt for his Mrs. Right: “I don’t even have a type I don’t think. My type is just whoever can get along with me. As geeky and as high-energy as I am it’s gonna take somebody pretty patient.”
He adds, “I believe when you meet the right person in clicks, and you both know and you start making it work, you know?”
Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert seem to have it all: thriving music careers, energetic personalities, and they’re even known as country’s hottest couple. You know what else they have? A hilarious sense of humor. When rumors of divorce recently started circulating, they addressed them in a very ‘them’ way.
“Hey @mirandalambert… I just read in a tabloid that our marriage is falling apart!!!” Shelton tweeted to his wife. She replied, tongue-in-cheek, with, “Oh no! Can’t wait to read if we make it or not.” Obviously, they found it rather humorous — and untrue — that they were on the road to a breakup.
Shelton, currently coach on ‘The Voice’ replied, “Ba! Ha! Ha! You see y’all!!! I’m making her funnier!!!” But, Lambert definitely outdid him with her perfect response, which will certainly put all the gossip mills to rest. She tweeted back to her husband: “@blakeshelton why are we tweeting each other when we are literally laying an inch apart? Wait…don’t answer that…..:) #keepitclean”
From the sound of it, everything is more than great in the Lambert-Shelton household… their romance is as spicy as their personalities!
Blake Shelton has had his fair share of TV appearances, most recently popping up on ‘Malibu County’ with Reba McEntire, and holding a key role as coach on ‘The Voice.’ He’s not planning on giving up Music City for Hollywood, however.
The ‘Sure Be Cool if You Did’ singer is eager to get back on the road and in his cowboy boots, telling the Boot, ”As soon as the leash gives me a little slack from ‘The Voice,’ I’m going straight back into touring. I can’t see myself going from ‘The Voice’ into more television. I think there will at least be a break there.”
While the television life may seem glamorous, it definitely doesn’t allow for other endeavors, as Shelton explains, “It ties you into L.A. for a week. You do a read-through on a Friday, and then you rehearse Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and film it Thursday … and you’re right back doing the next show the next day.”
Fans of the country superstar will certainly be glad to hear that news, as his highly-anticipated album ‘Based on a True Story…’ is set to be released on Mar. 26, the day after ‘The Voice’ premiere. He’ll be off the road until July, when the Ten Times Crazier Tour begins. Jana Kramer and Easton Corbin will join him.
It’s been said that Hillary Scott really blossoms on Lady Antebellum‘s new single ‘Downtown.’ Vocally, she’s loose and having fun, trading her serious side for a silly one for several minutes. The hilarious video for the crazy catchy song follows suit and finds Scott courting trouble as a leather-clad, eyeliner-smeared baddie, looking for a good time while battling the cops, played by her bandmates Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood.
Beforehand, Kelley and Haywood are jabber jawing backstage about their best tour memories when Scott breaks up the chatter about living in the past to ask what they are doing tonight. Kelley suggests going downtown and checking a band out… without her, since she’s a goody two-shoes who’s regularly in bed by 9.
Scott insists she knows how to have fun, despite liking rom coms. They ditch her and she wants to get even by going out and getting so crazy with her girlfriend that they get arrested. (Let’s forget that Scott is pregnant in real life, suspend disbelief and enjoy this trip ‘Downtown.’)
Next thing we know, Kelley and Haywood play a pair of bumbling, stumbling cops, donuts and all, while Scott goes punk rock with heavy black eyeliner, big hair and black leather. She’s a total sexpot showing a little “uh uh” and she’s looking for a good time while being a bada–. Who is this girl?
She battles the inept lawmen, getting up in their grills and spilling their milkshakes. She even smashes their cruiser’s windshield. The action doesn’t stop when the ‘Downtown’ video ends, either. Did Scott succeed in having so much fun that she gets cuffed? Watch and find out!
Kellie Pickler‘s drummer suffered serious injuries as the result of a car accident on Saturday (March 2). Gregg Lohman was traveling along Interstate 65 in Kentucky around 11:30AM when the crash occurred.
Lohman was one of three hospitalized in a four-car wreck, which happened just shortly after a tragic accident on the other side of the highway, in which six people were killed. It’s believed that traffic on the southbound side of the road slowed while drivers looked at the initial crash between a tractor-trailer and an SUV, which caused a fire on the northbound side.
As of Sunday afternoon, Lohman remained in serious, but stable condition at the University of Louisville Hospital. Pickler was not involved, but issued a statement to her social media sites on Sunday:
Yesterday, my drummer Gregg Lohman was in a horrific car accident and is currently in ICU. Gregg is not just my drummer, he is family. I believe in miracles and the power of prayer, so it would mean the world to me, my band, and Gregg’s family if you would please keep him in your prayers. Thank y’all so much. -Pickler
If you thought you heard a huge noise from the direction of Nashville last week, don’t be concerned — it was probably just coming from a giant party at Tim McGraw‘s house. The United States Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal from Curb Records last week in an ongoing legal war with their former star, effectively bringing the case to an end after years of legal wrangling.
The dispute dates back to May of 2011, when Curb filed suit against the singer for breach of contract, alleging that McGraw delivered his ‘Emotional Traffic’ album too quickly — a contract clause obliged him to space his albums 18 months apart. Curb refused to release the album, while McGraw took the position that its delivery fulfilled the final obligation in his contract.
He countersued, alleging that Curb Records had kept him in a perpetual state of “involuntary servitude” by making him wait so long to record new albums. McGraw also claimed that Curb’s choice to release a total of seven greatest hits albums was a deliberate ploy to extend his contract against his will, since he was then forced to wait another 18 months to fulfill another album in his contract.
In November of 2011 a Nashville court ruled that McGraw was free to record elsewhere while he waited for the suit to be heard in court. McGraw signed a new deal with Big Machine Records in May of 2011; he released an album titled ‘Two Lanes of Freedom’ on Feb. 5, 2013.
Last June, Curb tried to claim that McGraw was still under contract to them when that album was recorded, making the new music the property of Curb Records. An appeals court ruling in September upheld the the previous ruling that McGraw was free to record elsewhere. The Supreme Court’s refusal to hear another appeal essentially mean there’s nothing left to decide, apart from monetary damages on both sides.
The members of the country supergroup Alabama have announced a tour to celebrate their 40 years in the country music business. The Back to the Bowery Tour will kick off on April 5 in South Carolina and run through Oct. 12 before wrapping up in Oklahoma.
The tour commemorates the 40th anniversary of Alabama’s very first public performance, which took place at a club called the Bowery in Myrtle Beach, SC. The group have enjoyed an enormously successful career since, placing 34 No. 1 hit singles including ‘Tennessee River,’ ‘Mountain Music,’ ‘High Cotton’ and their recent collaboration with Brad Paisley, ‘Old Alabama.’ Their commercial blend of country, gospel, southern rock and pop has influenced many of today’s top artists.
The 2013 Back to the Bowery Tour constitutes Alabama’s first extended run of shows since 2002, and to mark the special occasion, the group have chosen to perform in smaller, more intimate venues.
“I’m so excited to celebrate 40 years since our first show at the Bowery,” Alabama front man Randy Owen says in a press release. “We still love one another, have played music together all these years, and are blessed to still be around. Most importantly, we are ever grateful for the fans, many having been with us since we used to play for tips, so to be able to go back out and play for them will make this a very special year.”
The Band Perry‘s Kimberly Perry recently revealed that she has a boyfriend, and some diligent detective work indicates that it’s Toronto Blue Jays catcher JP Arencibia. Fans and followers may have noticed the singer in a Blue Jays hoodie, but the most obvious clues come from the major leaguer’s Twitter account.
Arencibia’s tweet that “Kimberly Perry might be the most beautiful girl in the world,” including a photo of him in a recording studio, as well as another tweet that says his date for this Valentine’s Day is #themostbeautifulgirlintheworld are all signs the two are dating.
Reports indicate that Arencibia also lives in Nashville (he played college ball at the University of Tennessee). Perhaps the most definitive piece evidence is the photo of Perry in Blue Jays sweatshirt. She posted the picture herself, writing, “raise your hand if you’re having a bad day.” Arencibia posted the same photo, adding, “raise your hand if you think that’s the best hoodie ever.”
Nashville Gab reports that Perry admitted to having a boyfriend in a radio interview. Is it this 27-year-old? He certainly seems to like country music.
It’s unlikely that Arencibia will be able to accompany Perry to any approaching country music events, as the MLB season begins in April, with spring training already underway. This will be his fourth year in the major leagues. Last season, the catcher hit .233 with 18 home runs in 102 games for the Blue Jays. Oh, and he found a homer with Perry, too.
Last week, tabloids circulated rumors that Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift had to be kept separate at the 2013 Grammys because of a feud between the two country superstars. Anonymous ”sources” said the two “hate each other” and executives at the awards show had to make sure they didn’t cross paths. As you could probably guess, none of it’s true, according to Underwood herself.
She set the record straight during an an interview with ‘CBS This Morning.’ There’s no feud, and she doesn’t know who started that pesky rumor. “In every magazine, in every pretty much newspaper or gossip TV shows, they can just get away with it by saying ‘a source said …’,” Underwood explains. “I read the most ridiculous things about myself when people do that.”
When put on the spot, the Grammy winner said that ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ was her favorite song of Swift’s. “I like the branching out, trying some different sounds,” she adds.
It may be true Underwood and Swift are not friends — as Underwood stated in an interview with Allure magazine — but “not friends” is a long way away from mortal enemies. The fact is that the pair just don’t hang with the same circles, explains.
“We run into each other at events. We’re never in the same place at the same time,” Underwood said (quote via StarCrush.com). The alleged source was rumored to be a friend of Swift’s who says the ‘Begin Again’ singer feels Underwood is rude to her. Swift has yet to comment on the story.
